The orange daylilies say it’s time to roll

29 Jan

As you know, I measure the year by the orange daylilies, and they say it’s time for me to crawl out of the comfy chair and get back at it. The garden is waking up.

I love that the plain old orange daylilies always lead the way in my garden. They make life seem so simple. They grow, they bloom, they rest. Life in a lily clump.

Let’s roll.

Oh, that I could see that sight in my garden. Perhaps in four months or so. Enjoy crawling out of your comfy chair…I guess my behind will still be firmly in one for some time.

You’re seeing orange daylilies and I’m seeing just the tips of a few emerging daffodils. Just a few. There are a lot more out there not yet waking up. It’s been really cold here, with a bit of snow coming today. I think we’ll be in the 40′s next week, but I’m not being fooled. There’s lots more cold to come, and I’m staying in by the fire with my seed catalogs!

I’d be careful about rolling too soon. We still have February and March to get through. We could have another artic blast yet. I’ll admit that this springlike weather has me itching to get out and do the late winter clean up, but I’m going to force myself to wait a month.

I’d typically hold off a little longer, too. But since this is my year of living dangerously and the worst that can possibly happen is public humiliation on a blog already abundant in that … well, I think I’m going to risk it. LOL
